| Yes, it's that time again, the period during which people take exams. What exams are you taking? Are you confident, worried? What kind of grades are you aiming for?
Personally, I'm taking 6 exams this time:
- 3rd Biology Unit - I need and A for an overall A* but I'm looking at getting an A* on this one as well really.
- 2nd Chemistry Unit - Got a B on the last unit, hoping to get higher but I'm not particularly confident.
- Business Studies 1st paper - Hoping for somewhere around a B or an A, should do all right as this is only multiple choice.
- History 1st paper - I want to do quite well, hopefully an A.
- Citizenship - Really don't know how this is going to go, a pass will do so C.
- Maths Module 9 - Highest we can get on this is an A and I'm targeting A* so I'm hoping to get a high A to go with the module 10 we'll be doing some time to reach an A*
Over to you. | |

| I've got 6 - I'll simplify the data for you:
History Unit 1 - This unit is about humanism, Lutheranism, Calvinism, Reformation/Counter-Reformation, Zwingli and Anabaptists. Obviously the exam isn't going to cover EVERYTHING, though. I'm expecting a C but obviously I'm aiming high. I was pleased to find I'm recollecting and remembering the whole unit quite rapidly and lucidly. I feel ready.
General Studies Unit 2 - I got an E on the first unit, like most people. But it's a load of crap. There's not many points for creativity and flair - although we didn't revise even vaguely the right criteria. I want the highest grade I can get, obviously, but either way I'm not that fussed since it's a wee qualification that isn't even recognised by a lot of universities. If I get an A that will level out my grade for it as a C... Satisfactory. But again, meh.
English Language Unit 1 - I got a high C overall for my coursework. For the exam I expect a grade C or B. I don't quite feel 'ready,' but I'm going to do the exam the best way I can. My way. Obviously. (This unit is between Language, Language and Power, Language and Technology and Language and Gender. I have to choose wisely on the latter 3 (which are optional)).
Sociology Unit 2 - The big daddy of the AS Sociology course. This one is almost twice as big as the first unit, but I got a B in that one without even being initially entered into the test. I asked to be entered in the first unit and only just managed to get it - I was working at a U grade and I was forecasted for an E grade, but now that's out the window. I'm expecting a B, which overall will give me a solid B.
Media Studies Unit 1 - I got a B for my coursework which I was quite chuffed about. I was very worried - I had a nervous breakdown, even, when nearing the deadline. I lost sleep, fell into some traps and I wasn't happy with the finished product. Well, not all of it, at least. Ended up getting an alright 62/80 in the end, which wasn't too far from the highest in the class. This exam involves us watching a video, three times in total, making notes then answering several questions about it and then doing a question about case studies.
History Unit 2 - Basically this is about democracy during several different times in several different places. I'm not too savvy on this unit but I have longer to revise for this one and I'm confident it will all stick. Lately my mind has been hungry for information and life and girls. I expect more or less the same like the first unit (which I haven't sat yet so who knows.)
So far it seems as if I'm going to surpass my CCCC alps for AS or at least meet the target. The things I need to revise the most are:
-English Language and Media Studies terminology
-English Language/Media Studies/History theorists/historians - which I need to apply in my exam. Quite a hassle for me to be honest, but apparently I need them for a good chance at getting an A grade, so they must be very helpful. The trouble is I haven't made an attempt to mention these kind of people in my exams at all. I haven't mentioned them at all. Zilch. Nada.
-Case Studies. I have quite a bit of time but, not even I can blag my way through this without thorough knowledge of a case study. I actually need to look at this. It's barely 'revision,' - it's more like first time studying. And to be honest I'm not completely certain on my case study. But I can't afford to be indecisive.
-My handwriting. It's bloody awful. Examiners and teachers are fairly good at reading it but I swear I'm losing some marks from it (probably) - I probably did lose some in my General Studies test which I'm convinced I wrote when I was high. I remember writing it pretty wildly.

You get orals? Hate that. Well I think learning a few questions and their answers off for 25% of your Junior Cert is quite handy actually. We just have to listen to a CD for 40% of the french exam. Take that!!

| lmao You're lucky HB, the two orals we do only add up to 30% together. Another 30% for two writing and then 40% for the paper with 20% for Reading, 20% for Listening. Sames for Spanish | |
